How to get your child to open up...
Are you trying to communicate with your little ones but getting little back?
Do you have these similar conversations ... "how was school?" "fine", "what did you do today?" "Nothing much".
Well here's a trick that works for me. Sit down and colour or play lego together, don't start the conversation straight away but wait until you are both in a flow of making or drawing. Then start asking specific questions... "Who did you sit with at lunch?", wait a while.... "What is your favourite lesson at school?", "Did you have Maths today?".
I find that my kids are much more responsive in this situation, they are more willing to open up once they are relaxed at home and involved in an activity with you.
