Artzzi Babies- Playgroup

Happy new year to all!

What a great way to start the year with a new project to keep me busy (and out of trouble :)), welcoming you all to the new meet up group Artzzi Babies.

This is a new play-group for 0-4yr olds, based in the Lorong Chuan (serangoon) area. Please come and join us for playtime, art activities, songs, and story time. Each week will have a theme, and the kids will produce art work that they can take home. Suitable for stay at home mums and helpers to bring the little ones to let off some steam!

This class will include play-time, circle time, art activities, story time etc… The class is aimed at 0-4yr olds, to play and have fun socialising with others and then for guided Art activities, followed by snacks and stories. If you would like to bring siblings that's great just let me know numbers so I can get the correct art activities together.

The cost is $25 per child, $10 for each additional sibling.

Rainy day activity 2...

So it has been very wet over the last week and I spent one such rainy afternoon with my little treasures making insects. (mainly because my youngest has a Ben and Holly themed birthday coming up and I need some wall decorations).

To make these little bugs you need paper plates, coloured card, eye stickers, paint and glue. (most can be substituted depending on what you have around the house).

To start with cut off the edge of the plate (if necessary) and paint the plates depending on the insect you wish to make e.g. black for a spider, red for a lady bird. You can add PVA glue to the paint and then stick on the spots/legs or wait for the paint to dry and stick them after with a glue stick or PVA. For the spider legs, ladybird heads, spots and bee stripes I used black card but you could use pen or paints if you let them dry overnight. StIck these in the appropriate places (see photos) you could add a maths skill here by counting the legs and spots etc.… The ladybird and bee heads were half oval shapes which I glued to the back of the plate. Once they Bugs are starting to look like insects you can finish by sticking on eyes, wings and smiles. I used a silver marker pen for the ladybirds and yellow circle stickers with black marker pen dots for the bee and spiders.

When finished you could easy adapt you bug by adding any extras like glitter, sequins cotton wool etc…

Tips:

*Use a cut up cheap sponge for painting with little ones, they will find it much easier and they love the texture and sound.

*Pre prepare the spots, legs and heads etc… I didn’t and there were a few meltdowns and ‘time outs’ whilst they learnt patience!

Enjoy!

Rainy day activity...

This was our afternoon yesterday and proved to be a great rainy day activity. Being an artist I obviously have a lot of this stuff around the house but I’m sure most of you mums/dads with little ones do too. We had the Alien stickers left over so using the black paper we made a space themed background. We just used watered down white and yellow paint and splatted it all over the page, to make it look like stars and planets. To speed up the drying process we used my hairdryer and this helped to move the paint around the page as well. When the paint was almost dry (my 2 year old has little patience) we stuck on the Alien stickers. To make the activity last a little longer when we finished I put the kids in the shower with all the pallets and brushes to clean up, this kept them entertained for a bit longer. :)

You could easily adapt this by printing pictures and sticking with glue or paint, you could use different colours and glitter if you’re feeling brave enough.

Enjoy, Christina x
